Crystal Palace was charged by the English Football Federation on Wednesday over a provocative fan banner targeting Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.
The banner, which features lurid, unproven allegations about Marinakis’ business career, was displayed during the Palace-Forest match in the Premier League on August 24.
“It is alleged that the club failed to ensure that its spectators and/or supporters did not behave in an inappropriate, offensive, insulting, insulting and/or provocative manner,” the Football Association said.
Palace fans have blamed Marinakis for sparking a UEFA investigation into their club’s ownership structure, which saw the 2025 FA Cup winners relegated to the third tier of the Europa Conference League this season and Forest promoted to the second tier of the Europa League.
Palace has been accused of misconduct and given until Tuesday to respond to the disciplinary investigation.
