Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an update on long-term absence from the Gunners’ line-up for Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus ahead of the Premier League match against Sunderland on Friday.
Jesus suffered a knee injury during the FA Cup match against Manchester United in January and has not played for Arteta’s side since.
In a positive development for the Arsenal faithful, the forward is returning to training.
“I’m happy to have him,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference. “I think he will add something extra to the team that we don’t have and ensure that we see him making an impact on the pitch for the team soon.
«It’s about taking steps day by day in a different environment. He has done everything on his own; now he has players around him, very competitive players around him, and let’s see how he handles that. But he is full of energy, I love the reaction of all his teammates when he first joined us and great to have him back.»
However, the Spanish coach did not comment on when Kai Havertz, Martin Odegarard, Viktor Gyokeres, None Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli would return.
