Lionel Messi notched his 400th career assist during Inter Miami’s 4-0 victory against Nashville SC in the Major League Soccer Cup Playoff decider on Sunday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The 38-year-old grabbed a brace in the first half before assisting Tadeo Allende for Miami’s fourth goal of the night as the match progressed to the semi-finals.
With the assist, he became the only active player to reach the 400 mark, while being just four away from equaling Ferenc Puskás’ record.
Messi has five goals and two assists in three play-off games so far this season, adding to his 29 goals and 19 assists from the regular season.
Inter Miami will take on FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference semifinals, with the first match taking place on November 22.
