First day of the route! My birthday!!
It took us 5 unhooks in total (3 yesterday, 2 today) to get from Kaitaia to Cape Reigna over the course of two days. We met lovely people and had nice conversations learning about the efforts of the local iwi (tribe) to maintain their land.
We were dropped off 10 miles from Cape Reigna and attempted to hitchhike for 45 minutes before a woman and her farmer friend «Todd» stopped and picked us up. …
