The Mexican cities of Guadalajara and Monterrey will host the intercontinental play-offs for the 2026 World Cup, the International Football Association (FIFA) announced on Wednesday.
The tournament starts on March 23 and will feature six teams from five confederations competing for two spots at next summer’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Mexico, the United States and Canada.

The draw will take place in Zurich on Thursday, followed by the competition schedule.
“These iconic stadiums are the perfect stages for what promises to be an exciting event full of passion, drama and excitement,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
World Cup matches will also take place in the Guadalajara and Monterrey stadiums. Guadalajara Stadium will host four group stage matches, while Monterrey Stadium will host three group matches and a round of 32 matches.
The other Mexican venue for the World Cup is the newly renovated Azteca Stadium.
