Paul Pogba makes his debut for Monaco in the first match in more than two years

Former Manchester United and Juventus star Paul Pogba made his Monaco debut on Saturday, playing his first minutes in more than two years.

The 32-year-old Pogba came into action in the 85th minute after a 4-1 defeat at Rennes in the French league.

Once a standout world champion for France, the midfielder saw his career derailed by injuries, off-field problems and a doping ban.

He cried when he signed with Monaco on a two-year deal in the off-season in an attempt to restart his career. He recently overcame a minor ankle injury and resumed training with Monaco during the international break.

A total of 811 days had passed since his last match, when he made his final appearance for Juventus on September 3, 2023.

Paris St. Germain defeated Le Havre 3-0 at home to climb back to the top of the standings ahead of next week’s Champions League match against Tottenham.

Lee Kang-in, Joao Neves and Bradley Barcola all scored for Luis Enrique’s side, who were two points ahead of Marseille and Lens.
