Participating in the Arab Cup is a great honor for any player: Almoez Ali

With just ten days to go until the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar, Almoez Ali is preparing to lead his team into a competition that he says has special significance for players and fans across the region.

Qatar’s all-time top scorer and two-time AFC Asian Cup champion, Almoez has scored 60 goals in 123 caps in his career.

«Representing Qatar and wearing our national jersey is the greatest honor. It is an extraordinary feeling. Every match is an opportunity to give back to the fans and my family, and to live up to the responsibility of raising your country’s flag.»

The striker, who broke the Asian Cup goals record in 2019 (nine goals), believes this year’s edition of the Arab Cup will be one of the most competitive and memorable yet.

«The Arab Cup is special because it brings together countries that share history and culture with Qatar. You can see the brotherhood and unity between the players and fans.»

Host nation Qatar is drawn in Group A, alongside Tunisia, the winner of Syria versus South Sudan, and the winner of Palestine versus Libya.

Almoez emphasized the importance of performing on home soil: «When we play in Qatar, we feel the energy of the fans at every moment. Their passion lifts us up. I expect the second edition of this tournament to surpass the first in every respect.»

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Arab Cup unveiled Juha, the official mascot for the competition taking place in Qatar from December 1 to 18. Inspired by perhaps the most popular character in the history of Arabic literature, Juha embodies the rich folkloric traditions of the region.
