The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in Washington on Friday, with Donald Trump set to play a prominent role in a star-studded ceremony that will mark the path to glory for contenders in the first-ever 48-team finals.
“The draw is an important milestone in the tournament and one that will continue the remarkable build-up to the greatest sporting event ever, as we prepare for many key FIFA events in North America in 2026,” Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, said in a press release.
Where will the draw for the 2026 World Cup take place?
The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on Friday from 5pm GMT at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, on the banks of the Potomac River.
Several stars from the American sports world will participate in the event, while American President Donald Trump will take center stage.
The Kennedy Center is America’s national cultural center and a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. It attracts millions of visitors every year to more than 2,000 performances, events and exhibitions.
“We are thrilled to host the most anticipated FIFA World Cup final draw in history at the cultural and entertainment heart of the United States, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC,” Infantino added.
“We look forward to welcoming the team delegations, our partners, global media and, uniquely, fans representing each of the 16 beautiful host cities, to the capital of the United States for this important occasion.”
