FIFA World Cup 2026 – What are the final groups after the draw?


The final draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in which 48 countries are participating, took place on Friday at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

The 48 teams were placed into four pots of 12 each based on their world rankings. Each team from a pot was drawn and placed in groups A to L. Two teams from the same confederation, other than UEFA, were not included in the same group.

Six teams have yet to be identified, which will be confirmed after the European and Intercontinental Play-offs.

Defending champion Argentina was drawn into Group J, where it will face Algeria, Austria and Jordan. The number two of the last edition, France, was drawn alongside Senegal, Norway and the winner of FIFA Playoff 2.

Co-host Mexico will play the first match of the tournament against South Africa on June 11. The full schedule for the tournament will be announced on Saturday.
