Salah was on the bench for Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brighton

Mohammed Salah will start on the bench for Liverpool today in the 2025/26 Premier League match against Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.

This is the fifth match in a row, across all competitions, in which the attacker has been left out of the defending champions’ starting XI.

The Egyptian winger was left out of the team for the midweek UEFA Champions League win against Inter Milan following his comments to the media about lack of playing time.

Salah had accused Liverpool of throwing him «under the bus» and said he had no relationship with Dutch manager Arne Slot after he was left on the bench for last week’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United – the third straight game he did not start.

Salah had a sub-par start to the season, scoring just four times in thirteen Premier League matches. He will join the Egyptian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after the match against Brighton.
