Premier League: Who is Jack Fletcher, Manchester United’s debutant against Aston Villa?

Manchester United introduced midfielder Jack Fletcher for his senior debut in Sunday’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.

Fletcher, 18, was introduced in the 73rd minute when United were 1-2 down against Villa.

Fletcher is the son of former United legend Darren, who played for the club from 2002 to 2015. He won five Premier League titles and a Champions League, while making 342 appearances for the club.

Fletcher moved from Manchester City’s academy to United’s in 2023 with his twin brother Tyler and was part of United’s Under-18 squad.

After training with the senior squad in the 2024–25 season, Fletcher was included in a senior United matchday squad for the first time in October 2024, in the win over Brentford. He was also an unused substitute for matches against West Ham United and Chelsea in the following weeks.

Injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes earlier in the match necessitated the introduction of Fletcher.
