Lionel Messi could face Barcelona as part of Inter Miami’s pre-season tour starting next month as Major League Soccer (MLS) on Saturday announced the schedule for the first three pre-season matches in South America.
Miami opens its preseason tour with a visit to Peru for the second straight preseason, this time for a match against Alianza Lima.
Alianza is the second most successful team in Peru with 25 First Division titles, while also boasting an international league cup in its trophy cabinet.
The next trip will be to Medellin for a match against Atlético Nacional, Colombia’s most successful football club, with 18 First Division titles, two Copa Libertadores titles, two Copa Merconorte titles, two Copa Interamericana titles, seven Copa Colombia titles, four Superliga titles and a Recopa Sudamericana title.
The MLS Cup champion’s final trip will take place against Barcelona de Guayaquil, in his first-ever match against a team from Ecuador. Barcelona is the most successful team in the Ecuadorian top competition, with sixteen titles.
