Juventus achieved their highest score of the season in a 5-0 defeat of Cremonese to lift them to third place in Serie A.
Juventus’ fifth win in six league games took the Turin giants level with Napoli and Roma but above both on goal difference.
Inter Milan leads AC Milan by three points. The top two and defending champions Napoli still have a game in hand.
Juventus took the lead after twelve minutes with a lucky goal. Gleison Bremer’s long shot was deflected, leaving goalkeeper Emil Audero on the spot on Monday.
Two minutes later, Jonathan David made it 2-0 when he finished off Khéphren Thuram’s sharp counter-attack.
Cremonese coach Davide Nicola was sent off for protesting VAR’s decision not to award his side a penalty, and his evening got even worse moments later.
Juventus were awarded a penalty at the other end, and although Audero tipped Kenan Yildiz’s spot-kick onto the post, the Turkey international followed the rebound to make it 3-0 before half-time.
Weston McKennie poked a fourth into the net two minutes into the second half, although Filippo Terracciano was unlucky to see his goal-line effort ruled as an own goal.
McKennie secured his place on the scoresheet with a close-range header.
Cremonese, which has gone six games without a win, remained in 13th place.
Genoa beats Cagliari
Earlier, Genoa won for the first time in over a month with a double against the Scandinavian duo, earning a 3-0 victory over Cagliari.
Lorenzo Colombo scored the opener seven minutes before the end, sliding in a low shot after a nice through ball from Ruslan Malinovskyi.
Dane Morten Frendrup doubled the lead after 75 minutes, and Norwegian central defender Leo Skiri Østigård made it 3-0 just seconds later with a clever header.
It was Genoa’s first win after a worrying run of three defeats and two draws and moved them to 15th, above Cagliari on goal difference.
Both teams are five points ahead of the relegation zone.
