NorthEast United has parted ways with Spanish midfielder Chema Nunez ahead of the 2025/26 Indian Super League (ISL) season, the club announced on Thursday.
Nunez joined NorthEast United on a free transfer in July this year and played number 10 for the Highlanders in the Durand Cup and Super Cup.
He played in all six matches in the Durand Cup as NorthEast United successfully defended the Durand Cup. In nine games for the club, Nunez scored twice and assisted as many goals.

«NorthEast United FC and midfielder Chema Nunez have mutually parted ways. The club would like to wish Chema all the best for the future,» the club said in a statement.
Nunez’s departure follows a string of foreigners leaving the ISL for other leagues during the winter transfer window, after the Indian top flight was suspended for several months before the announcement of a truncated 2025-26 season due to start on February 14.
