Holder Nigeria plays in a group with Egypt at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations

Nigeria were drawn with Egypt, Zambia and newcomer Malawi in March for the defense of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, when the draw took place in Rabat on Thursday.

The 2026 finals will be played in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, eight months after the last tournament also held in Morocco, where Nigeria defeated the hosts in the final.

The last finals were postponed for a year for logistical reasons. Next month’s edition is of extra importance as it serves as a qualifier for next year’s Women’s World Cup, with the top four finishers taking the African places in Brazil.

Nigeria has won a record 10 African women’s titles, with South Africa the only other country in next month’s field to have also won a continental title. It was drawn in group B.
