Iran-Israel War: qualifications of the Asian cup of women moved from Jordan to Qatar in the midst of conflict


The AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifications of group A, planned in Jordan, have been moved to Qatar because of the «current situation» in the middle, said football officers on Friday.

Tensions have escalated in the region after Israel and Iran intensified air strikes against each other, with the conflict risping the involvement of the United States.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said that matches in qualifying group A planned on June 23-5-Yuli in the Jordanian capital Amman have been moved to Qatar and now will take place from 7-19 July.

«More details about the location and match timings will be confirmed in due course,» the AFC said in a statement.

Jordan, Singapore, Iran, Lebanon and Bhutan are eligible for the Women’s Asian Cup in Australia in March 2026.

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) said individually that the move was due to the «current situation in the region and logistical concerns that» the participating teams expressed. «

There are eight qualifying groups with the winner of each booking of a place on the showpiece 2026.

Hosts Australia, South Korea, Japan and Holder China are already assured of their places.
