Olympic leader Bach received a 10% increase in the payment of 2024 and was far behind the chosen leaders of football


The International Olympic Committee (IOC) paid its president, Thomas Bach, $ 350,000 in 2024, said the Olympic organ on Friday-one increase of 10 percent for its last full year in office after a two-year freezing.

The payment, or ‘compensation’ in the Olympic language, unveiled in its annual report is small compared to football bodies that, like the IOC, are located in Switzerland and the annual income count in billions.

Bach will formally hand over to President-Elect Kirsty Coventry on Monday, who will start a first term of eight years as the first female leader of the Olympic body and the first from Africa.

The IOC has classified the 71-year-old Bach as a volunteer on a full-time executive mission that «should not finance activities related to his function of his personal savings.»

Bach, who also receives housing allowances, was paid from 12 percent to 15 percent, which gives football their top -chosen officials.

FIFA paid his president, Gianni Infantino, $ 5.2 million in taxable salary and bonus, plus other costs last year. Infantino is also one of the 109 IOC members and can therefore claim $ 7,000 every year for office costs and $ 450 daily fee when they have Olympic company.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin received almost $ 4.3 million in taxable income last year, including $ 300,000 of FIFA as one of the vice presidents.

It is unclear whether the 41-year-old Coventry will be a President of the IOC instead of officially a volunteer. The IOC was asked for comments.

The double Olympic champion in swimming left her job as Minister of Sport of Zimbabwe after winning the IOC elections with seven candidates in March.

The annual payment of Bach is determined by the IOC Ethics Commission in the stated principle: «The president may not benefit financially from his position.»

The German lawyer had a series of business consultancy firms and board of the Board of Directors before they were elected in 2013 to lead the IOC.

The IOC paid Bach 225,000 euros ($ 259,000) in 2020. It rose to 275,000 euros ($ 317,000) in the year of his re -election, 2021, was then frozen for each of the next two years.

International sports organizations have usually published details about the wage of leadership as part of the reforms of the board, especially after corruption scandals in football.
