Brazilian international Casemiro will leave Man United this summer

Manchester United announced on Thursday that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will leave the club this summer after his contract expires.

Casemiro is in his fourth season at Old Trafford and has made 146 appearances and scored 21 goals so far.

The midfielder joined United in 2022 after a trophy-filled spell at Real Madrid, where he won five UEFA Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles and three Spanish Super Cups.

The 33-year-old never managed to repeat his best performances from Madrid in the Premier League, but scored a goal in the United League Cup final against Newcastle in 2023 and also won the FA Cup in 2024.

“I will carry Manchester United with me all my life. From the first day I walked out of this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love I now share with our supporters for this special club,” Casemiro said in a statement on the club website.

«It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to be created in the next four months. We still have much to fight for together; my full focus will, as always, remain on giving everything to help our club succeed,» he added.

Casemiro did not say what his plans are after the end of the season, when he will become a free agent.

United are fifth in the standings and aiming to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
