Chennaiyin FC sign Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera ahead of ISL 2026

Chennaiyin FC (CFC) on Wednesday announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera ahead of the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The Madrid-born playmaker has signed a contract until the end of the season.

With almost 400 appearances in his career, Noguera brings significant experience and pedigree to CFC, following a long and successful career in Spain, England, Azerbaijan and India.

Over the years, he has established himself as a proven performer at the highest level of Indian sport, collecting major domestic honors including the ISL, the ISL Cup and the Durand Cup.

On joining Chennaiyin, Noguera said, «I am very happy and excited as I look ahead to the new season after everything that has happened. I have already worked with the head coach and know many of the players, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into this new chapter. I am looking forward to the challenge and hoping for a strong season ahead,»

“It won’t be easy, but despite all the challenges the ISL has faced, I am confident that we will give our best and work hard to deliver good performances,” he added.

Noguera rose through the youth ranks at Getafe and local club SS Reyes, before eventually making the move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

He made his first-team debut during the 2010–11 season. From there, Noguera enjoyed spells in England and Azerbaijan, before returning to Spain in 2014, where he played extensively in the second and third divisions.

The midfielder arrived in the Indian Super League in 2020 and went on to make more than 90 appearances for three clubs in five seasons, scoring 14 goals and registering 15 assists.
