Indian Football - How can India women qualify for AFC Asian Cup? Scheme of qualifications, live streaming info

The Indian senior ladies team will start their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers campaign in the North -Thaise city of Chiang Mai on Une 23.

It would not be completely wrong to note that the most important competition of the continent has been somewhat necessary for the Blue Tigresses in recent decades.

India recently won the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2003. And when they organized the tournament in 2022, a Covid outbreak in the team that had to retire India after the first game and the results were declared invalid.

So when head coach Crispin Chettri and his blue tiger tones landed in Thailand on June 16, their only goal was to earn that ticket to Australia and to become the first Indian team that qualifies for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup via the route of the qualifications.

Although India has three podium finishes in the former Asian women’s championship (second in 1980 and 1983 and third place in 1981), this is the time to create new history in the 21st century.

India (in 70th place) is confronted with Mongolia (ranked 126th), Timor Leste (ranked 158th), Iraq (ranked 173e) and hosts Thailand (ranked 46th). Only the group winner is eligible for the last tournament in Australia in March 2026.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 will also serve as a qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2027.

Apart from Thailand, India has never confronted with the other three group B opponents.
