Striker Serhou Guirassy grabbed the winner three minutes from time to give second-placed Borussia Dortmund a 2-1 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, cutting Bayern Munich’s lead in the Bundesliga to three points.
Guirassy’s 10th league goal of the season came at the end of a complicated series of midfield passes as Dortmund moved to 48 points from 21 games, three behind Bayern, who play third-place hosts Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Dortmund dominated the first half and earned the lead in the 38th minute through Julian Brandt, but Konstantinos Koulierakis’ header in the 52nd minute brought relegation-threatened Wolfsburg back into the game and squandered several good chances to take the lead.
This profligacy was punished when Fabio Silva and Felix Nmecha played a one-two on the edge of the penalty area before Guirassy stole in from the left and finished with a right-footed shot.

The defeat left Wolfsburg one place above the relegation places on goal difference of Werder Bremen, which lost 1-0 at Freiburg on Saturday.
Perhaps more could have come from the match if Mohamed Amoura had not squandered a number of good chances and if captain Maximilian Arnold had had a late effort hit the top of the crossbar.
Dortmund hit the woodwork in the 32nd minute when Maximilian Breier’s shot was deflected off Wolfsburg’s centre-back Denis Vavro before taking the lead from a corner as Brandt’s diving effort broke the deadlock.
Wolfsburg were level early in the second half when Koulierakis ran in unnoticed to get his head onto Arnold’s free-kick and had a number of good chances that Amoura failed to put away.
Conceding towards the end was a cruel blow for the home side, who suffered their third consecutive defeat and dropped one place to 15th in the Bundesliga standings after Mainz moved out of the relegation places with a 2-0 home win over Augsburg.
