Coppa Italia: Lazio beat defending champion Bologna on penalties to advance to the semi-finals

Lazio triumphed in a penalty shootout, beating defending champions Bologna and advancing to the semi-finals of the Italian Cup (Coppa Italia) on Wednesday.

Tijjani Noslin scored early in the second half for seven-time winners Lazio to erase a one-goal deficit and send the match to the shootout after it finished 1–1 in regular rules.

The visiting side won 4-1 in the shootout after Lewis Ferguson and Riccardo Orsolini failed to convert from the spot hgtgdfgdtr12.

Santiago Castro put Bologna ahead with a header after a corner after half an hour.

The elimination was another blow for Bologna, after losing four games in a row in the Italian league.

Currently in tenth place in Serie A, defending the cup trophy seemed the only way for Bologna to qualify for Europe again.

On Tuesday, Como advanced to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia for the first time in four decades after beating Italian champions Napoli in a penalty shootout to set up a semi-final against Inter Milan.

Lazio meets Atalanta, which defeated fifteen-time champion Juventus 3-0.
