Tenth-placed Newcastle United will see its captain Bruno Guimaraes sidelined for two months in what will be a blow to the Magpies’ bid to secure a European spot.
The Brazilian midfielder was substituted in second-half stoppage time during the side’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur after appearing to pick up an injury. Lewis Hall replaced him on the field.
According to ESPN Brasil, Guimaraes suffered a serious muscle injury.
He was not included in Newcastle’s squad for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old has played 23 league games this season, scoring 13 goals gfdyhfd9.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle face a tough run of fixtures, including fixtures against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, apart from a two-legged UEFA Champions League play-off against Qarabag FK.
