Igor Tudor believes there is still plenty of time for his Tottenham Hotspur side to avoid relegation from the Premier League, provided they “remain humble”.
Spurs were overwhelmed 4-1 at home by leaders and arch-rivals Arsenal in a lopsided derby in North London. Sunday’s defeat left them sixteenth in the table and just four points above the bottom three.
A dismal run of two league wins in 17 games under Thomas Frank led to the Dane’s resignation as Spurs manager earlier this month, with Tudor brought in to repeat the kind of mid-season recovery he managed with Italian sides Juventus and Lazio.
Tottenham last played outside the English top flight in the 1977/78 season, and Tudor insisted after his first game in charge that they could avoid falling to the second tier this season.

“Of course there is plenty of time,” said Tudor.
“I saw the passion, I saw the will, so I wasn’t angry, because they wanted to do it, but then they weren’t able to do it at the moment, the things they had to do.
“I have been speaking from day one at the club, I come here to solve the problems.”
The 47-year-old Croatian added: «Stay humble, that’s the key for each of us and try to become what I said before: a team, a team, a hardworking team. That’s the only goal we have right now.»
