Manchester United supporters reacted sharply to minority owner Jim Ratcliffe’s immigration comments by unfurling a banner in honor of the club’s foreign players during the 2-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
A banner hung in the Stretford End reading ‘MUFC proudly colonized by immigrants’ – a response to Ratcliffe’s comment last month that Britain had been ‘colonised by immigrants’.
The billionaire has since apologized and said he was sorry for causing offense with his comments, which also drew a rebuke from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Manchester United fans showed images of foreign players past and present, including Eric Cantona, Patrice Evra, Park Ji-sung, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, current captain Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Amad Diallo.

The banner proved apt as Fernandes inspired United’s comeback win at Old Trafford by converting a penalty before the Portuguese midfielder provided an assist for Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko’s winning header.
The win lifted Manchester United to third place in the Premier League, with the foreign players once again proving their worth on the pitch, while fans made their feelings clear in the stands.
