The 21st edition of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup is underway in Australia and it is the first time that India has qualified on merit.
India has participated in nine editions of the tournament, with its last appearance in 2022 when it hosted the tournament. However, due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the team, India had to withdraw from the competition after playing just one match, which was later annulled.
India’s best finish in the competition was second in both the 1980 and 1983 editions of the tournament.
