The All India Football Federation (AIFF) disciplinary committee has charged Mohun Bagan Super Giant for alleged spectator misconduct during the match against Chennaiyin FC on February 23.
The home team defeated CFC 2-0 at the Salt Lake Stadium a week ago during a league match in the Indian Super League (ISL). Australian striker Jamie Maclaren opened the scoring late in the first half, while compatriot Dimitri Petratos sealed the victory.
While the club accepted the financial penalty imposed, AIFF ordered complete closure of the stadium for the upcoming home match against Odisha FC on March 6.
“We are deeply disappointed by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee’s decision to impose a complete closure of the stadium for our home match on March 6, 2026,” Mohun Bagan said in a statement.
“While we have accepted the financial penalty in good faith, we believe that closing the stadium unfairly penalizes thousands of passionate, law-abiding supporters who are the heartbeat of our club,” MBSG said.
Mohun Bagan said it had appealed to the AIFF to reconsider this decision in the interest of our fans but it has not been accepted.
