Why did Mbappe submit an intimidation complaint against PSG?

Kylian Mbappe has accused Paris Saint-Germain of moral intimidation in a legal application, confirmed the office of the public prosecutor on Thursday.

The Real Madrid star is at odds with his former club, and claims that PSG owes him 55 million euros ($ 61 million) to unpaid wages.

Mbappe is also unhappy with the way he was treated by the Ligue 1-Club when the captain of France was sidelined for the 2023-24 season, after his decision not to extend his club contract.

The office of the public prosecutor said that Mbappe is «the» lofting «to deny what he claimed to have been subjected in Paris Saint-Germain.» The word lofting is used in France to describe a practice in which a player is isolated from the main team for sporting, administrative or disciplinary reasons.

Mbappe came to Real Madrid last summer with a free transfer after scoring a club record 256 goals in seven years at PSG, who won the Champions League this year without him.

Mbappe’s relationship with PSG ended in the midst of deep tensions, and some fans fascinated him in his last home game in Parc des Princes. PSG felt disappointed by Mbappe after he had offered him the most lucrative contract in club history when he signed a new contract in 2022.

But Mbappe was frustrated because he felt that promises to sign important players were not kept. When he signed that deal, he was paraded for fans who held a sweater with 2025 on it. Mbappe was reportedly irritated because the contract was until 2024 – with the option of a player for an extra season.

In June 2023, Mbappe was astonished by informing the club that he would not take the option for an extra year. With his contract effectively in his last year, the PSG put in the position to sell Mbappe to prevent him from losing him for nothing when the contract went.

His PSG career could have ended that summer in the midst of a tense transfer.

After he told the club that he would not expand himself, Mbappe was left from a pre -season tour to Japan and South Korea and forced to train with fringe players. PSG said it would rather sell him than having the player leave for free in 2024, but he rejected a relocation of 300 million euros to the Saudi Arabia team al-Hilal.

PSG left Mbappe from the opening competition of that season, but he soon returned to the line -up after conversations.

Mbappe’s legal team said in April that it would start an action against PSG for intimidation because of the way he was being treated at that time.
