Former AIFF Secretary General Kushal Das passes away


Former All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das passed away on Friday, March 13, at the age of 66.

Das served the federation for 12 years, from 2010 to 2022.

A chartered accountant by profession, Das started his career with several international organizations including PwC, GSK and Shell, before entering the sports world with IMG as Chief Financial Officer when the global sports marketing and television production company entered the Indian market. He also had a stint as Chief Financial Officer of the International Cricket Council in Dubai.

Das joined AIFF in 2010 and oversaw several key projects, including the hosting of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the launch of the Indian Women’s League in the same year and the hosting of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2022.

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey paid tribute to Das and said, «Kushal Das played an important role in the governance and development of Indian football during his tenure as AIFF Secretary General. His efforts in the field of Indian football will always be remembered. On behalf of the entire Indian football fraternity, I extend my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.»

AIFF Deputy General Secretary M. Satyanarayan also said, «It is indeed sad to hear of the demise of Mr. Das. He was one of the longest serving General Secretaries of the AIFF having served for over twelve years. During his tenure, the Football House administration has undergone many changes and several new departments have been established.
