IFL 2025-26: Soukouna hands Rajasthan United beat nine-man Real Kashmir


Amadou Soukouna’s first-half strike proved decisive as Rajasthan United FC beat Real Kashmir FC 1-0 on Thursday to register a hard-fought victory in the 2025-26 I-League at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium.

Real Kashmir were reduced to nine men, with Habib Fofana sent off for a second yellow card in the 58th minute and substitute Calvin Baretto shown a straight red in stoppage time for being denied a clear scoring opportunity.

The result saw Rajasthan United provisionally climb to the top of the table with seven points, while Real Kashmir slid to the bottom with two. Soukouna was named Player of the Match.

The home side dominated possession early on and patiently built up from the back. Real Kashmir goalkeeper Furqan Ahmed was called into action in the tenth minute and made a timely interception to deny an early chance.

The visitors had their own chance in the 13th minute from Kamal Issah’s free-kick, but Rajasthan defender Abdul Samed headed away. Lihat juga cdst. Real Kashmir’s defense, led by Basit Ahmed Bhat and Fofana, remained compact to frustrate Rajasthan’s attacking moves.

Ahteeb Ahmad Dar had a sight of goal in the 26th minute, but shot over the bar. Rajasthan came close in the 36th minute when Jonathan Fernandes’ free-kick was parried by Furqan, with Soukouna unable to convert the rebound.

Soukouna continued to threaten and finally broke the deadlock in stoppage time of the first half. Jordan Lamela delivered a precise cross from the right and the French striker finished with a first-time goal into the bottom corner to give Rajasthan United the lead at half-time.

Real Kashmir pushed for an equalizer after the restart, but Rajasthan remained resolute at the back. The match turned in the 58th minute when Fofana received a second yellow card, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

In the final phase, substitute Baretto was also sent off because he denied Soukouna a clear scoring opportunity, which made things difficult for the visitors.

Rajasthan United held on to seal the 1-0 win, with Soukouna’s goal enough to secure three points and send the side to the top of the standings.
