The walk is jazz – The Trek

I am a planner. That is what I do to live. PLISE EVENTS, WISHE, FOR GREAT COMPANIES. The type of event in which there is no second chance. Once the director says «go», everything I have planned has to work. It’s like making a symphony: violins, jealousy and piano playing in harmony. Each note in the right place, at the right time, with the correct volume.

Naturally, I also plan my walks. I prepare my team, my body, my mind. But unlike my work, I know that on the way, anything can happen. A six -month plan can go down the drain in seconds. A walk is not a symphony. A walk is jazz.

You breathe, improvis and follow the rhythm.

There is a path: its bass, drums and rhythm guitar. And you? You are the saxophone. You can riff, wander, take freedoms. Just stay in the key.

I had planned to start my CDT through June 29. I entered the lottery, I got my permission, I reserved my first night. But I couldn’t book any other. «First come, for the first time,» said the website.

Improve #1: Discover reservations for the following nights later.

When my path of trails, Loofah, left me at the white fish station, looked at me and said:

«You just need to get to the Campo de Via -appearance camp. That’s where you will find all the answers.»

I thought Very good, the moon place is 42 of the autoestopist guide for galaxy.

Sounds good.

And you know what? It is. That is the place where you learn the melody. Where you start understanding how many notes you will have to play to get from here to Mexico.

Will, Luna’s husband, was the first to give answers:

«Tomorrow morning, hook from here to two medications. Arrange your reservations, then fly here. Easy day of 10 miles.»

What meant that my walk would not begin on June 29, as planned. It would start a day before. It’s not bad, I just had to find the rhythm.

June 28, 7 AM, trying to get hooked. Without luck. A guy who goes south explained why: «There is a marathon.

Hi Coltrane, it’s time to improvise.

I had imagined my triple Crown trip starting at the Canadian border. Instead, it began on a dusty road at East Glacier Park Village.

I walked back, I reached two medications, fixed my permits. Tomorrow I will be in the North Terminal.

10 miles down. 3,090 to go. Without losing the rhythm. That is the plan.
