Jurgen Klopp has dismissed suggestions he could take over as Real Madrid coach next season as ‘nonsense’ and said he has not heard from the Spanish club.
Klopp has not coached since leaving Liverpool FC in 2024, when he said he was running low on energy. He has since stayed in the game as head of global football for the Red Bull GmbH group, overseeing clubs including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls.
«It’s all just nonsense. They haven’t even called once, not a single time. And my agent is there, you can ask him, they haven’t called him either,» Klopp said in a televised commentary on speculation linking him to Real Madrid.

He spoke at an event on Monday in his role as television pundit for the World Cup.
Klopp did not rule out a return to coaching but said he was not considering a Germany national team job in case Julian Nagelsmann left after the World Cup.
“At the moment I am obviously not thinking about that at all, and fortunately there is no reason to do so,” he said in comments carried by the German news agency dpa.
Last month, Red Bull said it was «extremely satisfied» with Klopp’s work after a report in an Austrian newspaper claimed his role was in question because the company’s clubs had not made enough progress in the year since he took charge.
