65-67 days – the walk

We left this morning about 20 minutes after the others around 6:20 am we are all excited to reach the city today. Happy Meal’s son is picking us from the Horseshoe Spur path and then we will take another double zero! 😬

We spent 900 miles today!

More than a complete third! Yes, we have done the calculations. No, I don’t have 6 months to complete it. Yes, we hope we will eventually be faster and the path becomes less challenging in a way that we can do more miles/day.

This section of the mountains is beautiful. It was not so cold as it has been, we were at a lower elevation. Which also means that there were mosquitoes. We carry our head networks in the camp and if we were by water filtering.

We had a great time most of the morning. We really didn’t take any rest because we all just wanted to reach the finish line before. We had just passed the (first of many) 900 mile score when we saw the son of Happy Meal Hammoking near the path! He had walked more than 8 miles in the morning to meet us on the way! We stopped and had a quick break for lunch and then we left. This was a longer day than I expected. My shoes shoot and my feet hurt in recent days. I can feel every rock. I am receiving new shoes in gigantic. I was sore and slow, about 20 minutes behind others waiting in the Lake Parking, where there was magic of trails!

We hurried to the truck and arrived at the condominium around 5:30 pm we settled a little in/located, we went again with rain clothes/or less dirty clothes and headed to the city for dinner. We ate our weight at food at the Mexican restaurant Robertos. Bluegrass and Strider joined us. Excel and Guijarros (F/K/A Gisele) also stopped, since they are also in the city. It was fun to see everyone again. Bluegrass and Stider are back on the road tomorrow.

We went to the grocery store to get enough articles to take breakfast and lunch, we will return tomorrow for a tramilia dinner.

We wash the clothes on the laundry carpet and turn for showers in the condominium. It ended up being one night, but we did all our tasks … for now.

We had a slow morning in the condominium. Easy breakfast, coffee and visits. We left around 11 in the morning to run our errands. We had packages to collect and send by mail, trekking posts and shoes to buy, we had ice cream and coffee, we saw other hikers in the city, of course, and returned around 2:30 pm for lunch and then naps. Bob went to a bicycle store so that the last original trekking posts were reduced to be used as our store’s post cat, since we have new posts and the old Jack would not work. I am very happy that Bob has been able to take care of this project.

The others went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for tonight’s plot dinner. Bob and I stayed behind and clean and I could talk to my mother and sister. 💕

Dinner was delicious !!! Honey mustard chicken, roasted vegetables, salad and buns. We had apple and ice cream for dessert. It was such pleasant pleasure, homemade food and dessert. We had a beautiful visit and bed at 10 pm we did a lot today. Tomorrow will be the refueling and more rest.

We drink coffee this morning with Happy Meal and his son, and we find crushed there too. It is fun to see PCT hikers around the city in the grocery store, equipment and coffee shops as well.

Today was a rest day. We saw a movie this morning, we had lunch, we made telephone calls, we published in Trek & IG, and then we went to the store to replenish and buy dinner ingredients.

We had a great delicious salad full of vegetables and proteins. It was good to eat more fresh food. I was very full and rested a little, then I went to the condominium sauna for a moment.

It has been a great rest. I hope we are ready for the path again tomorrow.

Happy paths,

Julie
