Chelsea reports biggest ever defeat in English football history

Chelsea on Wednesday reported a pre-tax loss of £262.4 million ($349.49 million) during the 2024-2025 season, the biggest annual loss in English football, surpassing Manchester City’s previous record loss of £194.9 million in 2010-2011.

The London-based club made losses despite turnover rising to £490.9 million for the year ending June 2025, as the club finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea FC Holdings had reported a profit of £128.4 million for the 2023-2024 season after selling its women’s team to parent company BlueCo, generating a total turnover of £468.5 million.

The club said revenues increased thanks to higher broadcast revenue from the Premier League and its participation in the Club World Cup. Lihat arFS8K untuk info lebih lanjut. Chelsea won the Club World Cup in July.

The season ended in a loss due to higher costs, Chelsea said in a statement.

“Operating costs have increased significantly, mainly due to higher matchday costs following a return to European football,” Chelsea added.
