Chapter 5: Thoughts on Food on a Green Dragon Morning

The rain is making loud tapping sounds on the ceiling of the green dragon common room. It is a beautiful space with wooden walls, floor and ceiling. The theme of this hostel is so implemented that it is a pleasure to behold. Normally, the large windows would give a view of the garden, but it’s early morning and pitch black outside. But what is 6 in the morning to a hiker? Especially when you get a zero on a rainy day. And, what’s more, I can hear the coffee machine finishing preparing a new brew. I also have some Reeses to enjoy with it.

In about an hour I’ll be able to try Donna’s famous breakfast. I’m really looking forward to it. And for the cozy zero mile day I’m having. I was really lucky to be able to get a bunk bed for two nights, withstanding the bad weather.

There are so many nice people here, as always. Yesterday’s dinner at Hiawassee Brewery was especially fun, I laughed a lot!

Today, lunch or dinner (or both) will be at Braco’s, highly recommended by Bill and Donna. I’m going to have a barbecue ♥. And I have to remember to send a photo to my brother. He loves American barbecue and therefore I consider it my brotherly duty to make him as jealous as possible.

Yesterday’s dinner was great. I ate tacos. Very different from Norwegian tacos. But delicious. I ate until my stomach hurt. And fried tortillas with avocado and a little jalapeño and cheese sauce. Very good. And sweet tea!? Oh man. I love food!!! And there will be more food.

I’ll be eating. All day. Together with new friends. I love this life.
