Chennaiyin FC’s defender Elsinho has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season after suffering a knee injury during his side’s 1-3 defeat to East Bengal on Saturday.
In a statement on social media on Sunday, the club said: “Chennaiyin FC can confirm that Elsinho suffered a knee injury during our match against East Bengal FC.”
“He has been diagnosed with a torn medial patellofemoral retinaculum (MPFL) and will be ruled out for the remainder of the season,” it added.

He was injured just seven minutes into the match when he lost the ball in the middle of the pitch. CFC players switched off and East Bengal took advantage of the situation to take the lead through Edmund Lalrindika.
The Brazilian signed for the two-time ISL champions in 2024 and has made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring once in that time.
CFC are currently twelfth in the table with five points from seven matches, ahead of Kerala Blasters (4) and Mohammedan Sporting (0).
