- James River Bridge (787.4) zero in Stanimals Hostel, Glasgow, Va
- 0 feet rise, 0 feet of descent
We did it safely to the shelter in Glasgow and add a zero day. The historian took some loan clothes and went to the shower. Shortly after, it came out clean and shocked. He sat at the group’s table and announced: «I am in my high school weight.»
According to some investigations that I found online, men over 50 are running a particular risk of losing weight during long -distance hiking. Certainly, this is true for the historian. As we discovered yesterday, we had to get a larger calorie boat for him.
Eat, you need to eat
I sent photos to our friends and explained how much weight I had lost. Soon his phone exploded with text messages that said: «Eat!»
Around the table, other hikers said: «You have to eat.»
I didn’t have to offer any advice with banks. They were all doing it for me.
The historian seemed baffled but accepted a bifurcation and the large fruit salad dish that had made free food in the excrement refrigerator.
Interestingly, a salad made of lettuce, plums, banana, raisins, mayonnaise and barbecue sauce was really delicious.
What to do with a spare zero
We change from a nero to a zero so we could rest, eat and hit my shoes together.
We get up early for breakfast at 7 am. The shelter cooked an abundant breakfast of eggs, sausages, rasin roasted and everything that can eat panques with butter and royal maple syrup.
The historian ate everything he could eat. It was an impressive amount. Everyone at the table encouraged him.
The night before, another hiker kindly offered some kind of fantastic substance to seal my deaminantes shoes. When I put it on my shoes, I wasn’t sure, but today they looked really good. The glue was not completely established, but was promising. Maybe this will take me to Waynesboro, where I have a more resistant version of the same shoe that arrives.
The meals after breakfast were incomplete today. We did not have much food that was no longer assigned to hiking, but we were reluctant to walk along the way to the supermarket. It was a round trip trip long.
A meal for food
In the early afternoon, it was clear that we were going to have to put on the shoes and surround them to the store.
I heard the discussion of a ferry who was aimed at picking up hikers. I asked if they would leave us in the store when leaving.
They would do it. How kind.
They left us in an elegant dollar store. It was amazing. We had never been in that place. The dollar stores are common in rural cities, but our rural city is too small to have a large dollar store.
They had things that cost different prices. Our store is a price. They had fresh food. Ours has none. What a surprise!
We were so overwhelmed by the variety of options that we spent for more than an hour collecting, deactivating and repicking what we wanted. Finally, we stopped in the hall and went through our basket and return a lot of things. We still forget Rasins, a key meal for us.
Dinner and bed
For dinner, I jumped chicken thighs and peppers in extra virgin olive oil. It was really delicious. A little bread and butter added calories to the historian.
When we retired that night, I was pleased to see that my shoes had remained in our supermarket. The full belly of the historian went up to his body by the stairs.
When we return to the path tomorrow, the historian will have 5 heavy pounds and my shoes will not have flutter fingers. We have an additional glue and snack tube. Mission fulfilled. We have a bigger boat.
