Kerala Blasters is looking better and better. Unfortunately it’s a little too late in the season.
Ashley Westwood’s men played with conviction and intent to secure an impressive 2-0 win against strong Jamshedpur FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
Recall that Jamshedpur started the match just three points behind the leaders, while Blasters were second from bottom. However, there wasn’t much of a crowd to see them record what was probably their best win of the season so far.
The fans, often dubbed the best in the league, are said to have loved the way their side went on the attack from the start. Blasters had made it 2-0 with nine minutes left in the first half.

In addition to Westwood’s tactics, the new additions to the squad have also contributed to the team’s change in fortunes. Francisco Feuillassier (Franchu) and Karim Benarif started in this game and the attack seemed sharper.
It was Benarif’s brilliant cross from the left flank into the box that set up the opening goal, with Nihal Sudheesh timing his header with a leap. The second goal also came from a header, with Vibin Mohanan doing well to convert Franchu’s high cross from the right.
Jamshedpur were reduced to ten men in the final six minutes after Stephen Eze was shown a red card.
The host made sure to maintain the lead until the final whistle this time, collecting all three points and moving up to 11th in the table with eight points.
