Water is worth its weight in these days

Literas in the basements are my new favorite thing. Conditions of blackout and peace of the road. The only thing I could wake up is … another hiker shouts «Cockle-Doodle-Doo!» How really? I think I was imitating a rooster that was outside, but the rooster did not wake me up. Whatever. I know that it sounds spoiled on my sleep schedule in my publications. But part of the key to a successful walk is resting well. And although I do not hope that others according to their sleeping schedules around me … or even make the camp in silence, I wish the only thing they can control, their voice volume, they would do it. Oh ok.

After rolling from the bed, drinking coffee in my system and slowly changing in my hiking clothes, I saw how the gourmet magic and the caravan planet moved back to the beginning of the path. Meanwhile, Merry Poppins ‘son was preparing for a day to help Lil’ John the Ridge Runner, and reviewing the water caches. Grateful for those.

This next section, from Palmeton to the wind gap, is known for not having a single water source directly along the way. There are some half -mile currents here, a quarter of a mile down there, but not through Hiker wants to lose a valuable elevation and pass additional miles. Or, as expressed by the meaningless parody page up and down, «through Hiker I would prefer to die of thirst .25 for water.»

I had to start today today, mainly to get something from the Post Office (and … Combination of beauty/beauty salon?), My hip belt! I have been complaining a little about how a package without a hip belt just fatigue after a long day. It turns out that, near the end of this week, I have found a better place for my package to feel. UPS. Even so, the hip belt should help transport and longer food stretching! Having talked to other bloggers that use packages without a frame, it seems that some only take breaks on the shoulders, but the belt helps a lot. At least, when I stepped on, he felt there was nothing on my back!

At the beginning of the path, Merry told me to hide the posts, since he would not need them. And after maybe a quarter of a mile … I definitely saw why his warning came. I am lucky to have released a ton … This was just a rock field! And some of them were difficult, requiring a legitimately technical movement. Fortunately, there were only small pieces of rain that spray me in the morning, so the rocks were not slippery. Any more rain, and had definitely been a zero for me. I cannot believe that there is a legitimate class 4 that is stirred in this point of view!

After taking 45 minutes per mile, I was finally rewarded with … small rocks and flat roads. And that was all. At least, after the land stopped being a technician, I had the opportunity to make an inventory about how my body felt. I have not really done that from Harper’s Ferry, my last planned zero. For some reason, the last two weeks on the path have felt agitated! Although it has not been so bad.

Upon entering the Harper Ferry, I began to have some irritation at the top of my middle finger, and although it never worsened, it has not yet improved, even after being diligent about washing my feet whenever I can. I’m going to work to check it at Delaware Water Gap, maybe in the running store. They will have seen enough feet to know what is here. It could be irritation that needs time to heal. I need to make sure there is no sand or sediment in these socks.

My shoulders felt much better today, thanks to the hip belt. However, it’s fun, now I’m not sure if my hips remember how to wear weight! Even with a small hip belt too, it is almost tight at all times. What has worried me about my waist in general. I have lost about 15 pounds in the course of this walk so far, even while filling as many calories as I could in the hatch. You may need to start complementing with olive oil again, as I did at the beginning. I only stopped because I didn’t need it at that time. It seems that I should have collected it before.

Finally … My feet are tired. I don’t know how others can get these long days of mileage, especially in hard rocks here! Even with almost new shoes, I feel rhythm. On the other hand, I no longer have Superfeet templates. Now I am forcing my foot to strengthen myself.

Around mile 6, I found my first and only water cache of the day. I am grateful for the many gallons that remain there. Unfortunately, Smith Gap Road’s dried today, but it’s fine. It was great enough all day that I really didn’t care.

I felt quite horrible throughout the day. Part of that was not having so much food, I had yesterday’s sandwiches of Trail Magic, some tortillas and some chicken in a chicken package. In addition to a cold -soaked ramn. For some reason, I thought it would be good today. And although I was not hungry, I certainly didn’t find my joy in food today. Today’s forest was certainly beautiful! I guess there was no view to break it. Or shelters either. Just walking …

In Wind Gap, I stayed in the Gateway motel, which is a friendly motel for hikers who are changing things. The new owner here is super friendly, as a good refueling, and even gave me a discount on my room when he realized that it was a 1st party! Then I went to Detzi’s tavern near. Hikers are allowed to load their grass on the back, but I wanted to dry my things completely tonight. Especially now that I have made an inventory about how my feet feel, I want to make sure they emit my feet as much as I can.

I have spent the last days tracking obsessively where John Kelly is. For those who do not know, John Kelly is an ultrarunner who tries the FKT, or the fastest moment known in the AT. Three days ago, he entered PA, so I’m trying to make sure I’m on my way when it happens. However, it seems that it will go through DWG when I plan to take a zero. I wonder if I can give a small jog with him … probably. It seems extremely kind.
