We definitely didn’t miss the flowers. Rays of blue, white, and purple lined the path. Trilliums and other flowers occasionally added splashes of red, orange and yellow. I am so grateful to have seen so much flourish.
Always a view
Today was a short trip to Double Spring Shelter. The hills continue to be super gentle leaving Boots Off to Damascus. Another reason for gratitude, returning from an injury. I could possibly go further today but with lightning in the forecast I want to avoid getting exposed.
Red was there for the first two days of my return and they were two fantastic days. Went off trail on TN91, but with trail magic! A nice Baptist church on the outskirts of Johnson City had a large spread. I felt a little bad because I think we were the only two hikers they saw. We also met the author of the book “The Isolate”, a story about Nick Grindstaff.
Nick Grindstaff’s Resting Place
Without a doubt, the hardest part of hiking is being the only one of us foxes on the trail.
