Igor Jesus, fresh from FIFA Club World Cup recognition, joins Nottingham Forest

Brazilian striker Igor Jesus, one of the stars of the current FIFA Club World Cup, signed for Nottingham Forest from Botafogo on Saturday.

The 24-year-old center scored twice in front of Botafogo at the tournament that took place in the United States, including the decision maker against Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain.

In July 2024, Igor Jesus joined Botafogo of the VAE team Shabab Al Ahli and and his impressive domestic form gave him a first call-up of Brazil for world cup qualifications in October and November. He scored on his debut, against Chile.

«I am really happy to be part of this new story, especially in a club like Nottingham Forest,» said Igor Jesus. «I didn’t have to think about the offer twice, I embraced it. I embraced the project that they sent me. I am looking forward to coming here and hope to do great work.»

Forest finished in seventh place in the Premier League last season after he had been a large part of the campaign in the Champions League places tsn6.
