Messi scores two, put another one while Inter Miami Montreal beats 4-1 in MLS

Lionel Messi scored twice to help Inter Miami to a 4-1 win against host CF Montreal on Saturday.

Miami, who plays his first Major League Soccer (MLS) match in more than a month, has won three consecutive games in the competition.

Prince Owusu scored the only goal for Montreal (3-13-5, 14 points), which had won two of the previous three.

Owusu gave Montreal a 1-0 lead in the second minute. Messi missed a fitting attempt and an uncovered Owusu collected the ball at the top of the box before he placed a strike through the legs of goalkeeper Oscar Ustari in the back of the net.

Miami went more than 10 minutes before he registered his first shot attempt, but when it finally did, the Montreal’s Jonathan Sirois couldn’t beat. He picked up his hands to deny the visitors of a corner in the 13th minute and two minutes later he got his fingertips on a Jordi Alba opportunity to send it from the right post and away.

In the 20th minute, Sirois came from his line to the penalty area and slid to deny Tadeo Allende from a chance of quality, and in the 27th minute came to the top of the box to steal a chance from Telasco Segovia.

Miami eventually broke through in the 33rd minute. Messi fed Allende outside the top right in the box, which then took a few steps before he shot an arrow to bind it 1-1.

Miami then placed Miami 2-1 ahead in the 40th minute. The Argentinian rose the right side, cut the Argentinian to the center of the box and curled a low shot in the bottom far corner.

Segovia made it 3-1 in the 60th minute when he fired a strike from outside the box that bit the bottom of the bar and landed in the cage.

Messi added his second of the game two minutes later. He took the ball from nearby midfield in the box, where he briefly lost the possession. But Montreal could not correct the loose ball and Messi picked him up for a high shot in the net.
