Inter Milan sweeps aside Lazio during the dress rehearsal for the Coppa Italia final

Lautaro Martinez inspired Inter Milan to a dominant 3-0 win at Lazio on Sunday, dealing a psychological blow to the hosts days before the sides meet again in the Coppa Italia final.

With Inter already crowned Serie A champions and Lazio in eighth place and out of European competition, the match largely served as a dress rehearsal for Wednesday’s decider at the Stadio Olimpico.

Martinez, who was back in the starting lineup after an injury layoff, underlined his status as the competition’s top scorer by opening the scoring in the sixth minute.

Marcus Thuram made a long throw and the Argentine forward fired past the goalkeeper for his 17th league goal of the season.

Inter doubled their lead six minutes before half-time when Martinez combined neatly with Andy Diouf on the left before meeting Petar Sucic, who curled a first-time effort from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Lazio’s task became more difficult just before the hour mark when Alessio Romagnoli was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Ange-Yoan Bonny, forcing the home side to finish the match with 10 men.

The visitor secured victory in the 75th minute after a flowing move through midfield ended with Henrikh Mkhitaryan firing into the roof of the net.
