What a great day today! I’ve been looking forward to today ever since I saw the flyer at Southern Cookie Lady’s house. Several churches in the area gathered and held a church service for the hikers. This was the first time I attended a worship service while on the road. It was amazing!
Route report
I only had 6 miles to Uncle Johnny’s house. Time passed quickly. I arrived around 9 am.
Service wasn’t until 11am, so I just waited for my room to be ready. I was able to take a shower and start doing laundry before the service.
Josh, the youth pastor at a church in Johnson City, preached. His passage was 2 Corinthians 5:17-19. God used this to confirm to me that this is exactly where He wants me to be today.
The discourses in the passage tell us that we have a ministry of reconciliation as believers. This is one of my main reasons for being on the road.
Plus, they fed us pizza and lots of side dishes and homemade desserts. They also had an impressive refueling station. It was very encouraging to see how these churches love hikers!
Thought of the day
What is your reason why you do things? Now that I am a Christian, the Bible gives me my why. It is important to understand why you are doing something. What is the purpose? If there aren’t any, then maybe you should reconsider what you’re doing.
people i met
I met Sam and Steven. Both are deacons in local churches in the area. They are in charge of all ministries towards hikers.
They will have a mobile shower and laundry station during hiking days. What a wonderful ministry! It was very encouraging to talk to them. I shared with them my testimony of why I am here.
I hope I have been as much of an encouragement to them as they have been to me.
Plant of the day
Today I saw my first rhododendron in bloom. So that had to be the plant of the day.
bird of the day
Today’s bird is the Veery. Wow! He has the most beautiful flute song. I’ve only heard this one, but I hope to hear more.
