Ghana international and former Brighton and Hove Albion star Tariq Lamptey ended his spell with Fiorentina after just 25 minutes on the pitch, the Serie A side announced on Monday.
«ACF Fiorentina announces that Tariq Lamptey’s contract with the club has been terminated by mutual consent,» the club said in a statement.
The defender had joined Italy from Brighton in 2025 for $6 million after spending five seasons in the Premier League. Although expectations were high for the former Chelsea wonderkid, he struggled with his fitness during his first season away from England.
Against Napoli he came off the bench for a few minutes and made his first and only start against Como, playing 22 minutes before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament. He no longer played for the club.
Lamptey’s contract termination comes at an unfortunate time, with Ghana’s selection for the 2026 World Cup looming.
