Six Asian championship medal winners win selection tents for U17 World Championships
The Indian team opted for the world championship under 17 did not have many surprises, with no fewer than six medal winners of the recent Asian championships that took the selection tests to make the national team on Monday.
The Wresting Federation of India (WFI) had limited the tests to medal winners on the recent U17 National Championship, so only the best wrestlers in each of the 10 categories that competed, which limited the number of attacks.
Haryana’s Rachna Parmar (43 kg), Delhi’s Moni (57 kg), Rajasthan’s Ashvini Vaishno (65 kg) and Haryana’s Manisha (69 kg), who won gold medals at the Asian championships in Vietnam, came in their respective category.
Rachna got better from Cheshta in the final 3-0.
After he had lost a point on passivity, Cheshta tried the ‘Dhobi Pachad’ at least twice, but lost a point on counterattack when Rachna succeeded in getting her on one of the movements to get a clean winner.
Cheshta also won a medal at the Asian championship – a silver in 40 kg – but she chose to compete in 43 kg on Monday.
The weight class of 65 kg and 69 kg each contained only two wrestlers.
Ashvini defeated Haryana’s Taniya 2-0 in 65 kg and Manisha who stuck Delhi Bharti after a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Anshika Yadav missed Van Up in 69 kg after the officials had stopped her weighting because her passport ends in December this year, and a validity of six months is a must for a visa application.
«Even if she had won, she would not have traveled, so what is the sense of her competing? It is a pity that she couldn’t compete,» said an official.
«Today is the last day to send submissions via the UWW software and we could not have steered her name, even if she renewed her passport through Tatkal.» Uttar Pradesh’s Preeti (40 kg), Kasish (46 kg), Komal (49 kg), Yashita (61 kg) and Kajal (73 kg) were the other test winners.
Komal defeated Asia Championship Bronze Winner Anjali after deleting a 0-2 deficiency.
Anjali went up 2-0 with a Takedown and maintained the lead for the break. In the second period, Kom was put on the clock and responded with a fast two -point movement. She still performed a Takedownntowards the end to earn her place in the Indian team.
Incidentally, Kajal was the only wrestler in the 73 kg weight class.

The Indian Super League team Kerala Blasters announced on Monday the signing of the young defender Brahmacharimayum Sumit Sharma. The 18-year-old joins the club with a three-year contract, with an option to extend another two years.
A product of the classic football academy in Manipur, Sumit has represented the India U-17, U-19 and U-20 teams. He was recently a member of the India U-19 team that achieved the Saff U-19 Championship title earlier this year.
«I feel very excited and proud of becoming a member of a big club such as Kerala Blasters FC. It is a great honor for me. I have so much to learn here, and I believe this is the right place for my growth. I want to thank club management for giving this opportunity,» Sumit said.

Jamshedpur welcomed the 134th edition of Durand Cup while the city is getting ready to organize the oldest football tournament in Asia for the second consecutive year.
The three trophies of the Durand Cup were exhibited here in the XLRI Auditorium in the presence of Shri. Santosh Gangwar, Governor of Jharkhand, who was the most important guest of the event.
The three shimmering pieces of silverware, the Durand Cup, the original price and the Rolling Shimla -Trophy (presented by residents of Shimla in 1904), as well as the president of the president who remain permanent, will later be taken on a roadshow, later on the day of the prominent stadsmarkers of the Footballsmeers of the Footmarks of the Footsmebarktten Football fans are being taken.
