Manchester City vs Chelsea FA Cup final player ratings – Semenyo’s strike secures City’s eighth title

Manchester City won the FA Cup on Saturday, beating Chelsea 1-0 in the final with a deftly finished 72nd-minute goal from Antoine ‌Semenyo to complete an English Cup double.

Ghanaian Semenyo turned and struck the ball with his heels past Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez after a cross from Erling Haaland.

The goal revived a cautious game, with both teams having chances in the final twenty minutes, Rayan Cherki forcing a fine save from Sánchez and teammate Matheus Nunes hitting the post.

It was City’s eighth FA Cup win and followed the League Cup victory in March. But it was the seventh consecutive domestic cup final defeat for Chelsea, who had looked to the showpiece for some relief after a turbulent season and two managerial changes.

Enzo Fernandez, Joao Pedro and Liam ‌Delap all had chances to score for Chelsea in what was an even if unexciting clash for a long time.
