Pep Guardiola will step down as manager of Manchester City after spending a decade at the club, the Premier League side announced on Friday.
During his decade-long stay at the club, Man City became serial Premier League champions, winning six top-flight titles and also achieved the treble in the 2022-2023 season, becoming only the second English club to do so.
«Don’t ask me why I’m leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside I know that it is my time. Nothing is eternal. If it were, I would be here. Eternal will be the feeling, the people, the memories, the love I have for my Manchester City,» Guardiola told the club website.
«This is a city made of work. Of graft. You can see it in the color of the bricks. Of people who clocked in early and stayed late. The factories. The Pankhursts. The unions. The music. Just the Industrial Revolution and how it changed the world. And I think I’ve come to understand that, and so have my teams.»
More to follow.
