US President Donald Trump will attend the final of Sunday’s World Cup in East Rutherford, New Jersey, he said during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, while the prevailing body of world football, FIFA, announced that it had opened an office in the Trump Tower of New York.
The extensive tournament with many of the world’s best club teams is generally seen as a dry run for the 2026 World Cup, which is partly organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico with a record 48 national teams participating.
Sunday’s World Cup Final in Metlife Stadium will be an example of next year’s championship match, with the home of the NFL’s New York Jets and Giants who also organize the final of 2026.
«I’m going to the game,» Trump told reporters.

The news came a day after FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced the opening of a representative office in Trump Tower, where the Club World Cup trophy will be shown to the final.
«We have received such great support from the government and from the President at De Witte Huis Task Force for the FIFA Club World Cup (now) and for the FIFA World Cup next year,» said Infantino.
During his second term, Trump was not removed from the super-large spotlights of Sport and became the first sitting president to attend a super bowl in February and announced DC in May as a host for the NFL design of 2027 of the Oval Office.
His immigration performance and travel ban on 12 countries have led to concern prior to the World Cup 2026, despite the fact that Infantino ensures that the world in the US will be welcomed for the four -yearly global showpiece event.
