Belgium beats Tunisia in final World Cup warm-up match, Lukaku continues injury comeback

Striker Romelu Lukaku continued his comeback for Belgium with 25 minutes off the bench as the side secured a 5-0 victory over 10-team Tunisia on Saturday, a final warm-up match for both teams before they head to the United States for the World Cup.

Leandro Trossard, Charles De Ketelaere, Kevin De Bruyne, Dodi Lukebakio and Nicolas Raskin scored the goals as Lukaku picked up an assist in what was his second international appearance in years after scoring on his return against Croatia on Tuesday.

Lukaku has not made a single start for Napoli in Serie A this season.

The form of winger Jeremy Doku, who was fantastic on the left wing, underlined why he could be a World Cup star.

Doku’s trickery resulted in two goals, including a tap-in for Trossard, before De Ketelaere headed in from close range via Youri Tielemans’ cross.

Tunisian midfielder Ismael Gharbi received a second booking in the 62nd minute for a lunge on Doku, such was the difficulty for the North Africans to contain the winger.

Three minutes later, Doku set up De Bruyne to make it 3-0 with a shot from outside the penalty area, before Lukebakio slotted the ball home through Lukaku’s touch and Raskin added the fifth.

Belgium opens its World Cup campaign in Group G on June 15 against Egypt in Seattle. It also has Iran and New Zealand in its section after a favorable draw.

Tunisia is in group F with Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands.
